5 Fandom Friday: Characters I did Name My Kids After

Hello Dearies! When I saw this topic I got a little mad. I am a mommy of three and baby naming was not the beautiful moment I wanted it to be. It is actually a very soar subject for me. Just thinking about it makes me see red. I won't go into details but some people suck!

For these reasons I don't want to even think about what I would name any future children, but I will talk about my two boys and their "nerdy" names.

My oldest boy is Logan. My husband picked it out and I immediately said NO! You see my daughter already has an "L" name and I don't like matchy names. We were in the hospital for 3 days. He had no name for those 3 days. Finally, my husband gently reminded me that Logan was Wolverine's real name, and I love Wolverine, so dammit he won! Haha. 5 days after we left the hospital, I was looking into his cute squishy face and the name I should have gave him came to me. Even now that he's 6, the other name still suits him but oh well. There is no changing it now. And he really loves that he is named after Wolverine :)

My youngest and newest baby has 3 names that he is regularly called. 1 legal, 2 nick names, all nerdy. 

The first is Thor. My 6 year old named my belly Thor when I was 3 months preggo and the name stuck. At least half of the people in my life still call him Thor. 

The first initial of everyone in our family used to spell out JELL. Some of my friends really wanted me to give my son an "O" name so that we could be the JELLO family. Haha! One friend said I should call him Optimus. I joked that I would call him Opie. And now Optimus is another name he hears on a regular basis. 

The name we actually gave him Legally was Toby. My husband is not very nerdy. He likes normal, boring names. He was eventually sold on Toby but he wouldn't have been if he knew why I picked it. The big secret: Toby is the name of the baby that the goblin king kidnaps in the Labyrinth and I love that movie so so much! Do NOT tell my husband :)

Strange Magic Trailer

Hello Dearies! This is another film that I have no idea about. It looks like a war between two sides of woodland fantasy creatures. One side beautiful and the other ugly. I’m really not sure what the point of this film is but the first fat “ugly” creature you see is adorable and I felt for him. If I didn’t have kids I might pass on this one but they seem pretty interested so I’m sure I‘ll be dragged to it.

Hello Dearies! …Priorities!

OUAT Queens of Darkness rant

Hello Dearies! If you follow me on twitter, you know that I love OUAT. I am a big fairy tale fan and whenever I see versions that go deeper and give back stories to characters, I get so so happy! It's like crack to me :) I swear. Now, with the show returning next week, I wanted to rant a bit about why the commercials are driving me nuts.

I have an issue with the Queens of Darkness. Not the actual actresses or characters themselves. I'm excited for them all. My issue is actually really nit picky. I can't stand that they are calling them the “Queens of Darkness”. It is just wrong and I don’t feel like it was a good choice to describe this group of characters. I feel like that title refers to an evil magical queen and that really only applies to one of them.

Allow me to explain.

Ursula: Queen, Magical, Evil! She is the only one that really meets all qualifications to be a queen of darkness.

Maleficent: Evil Fairy (she had her own castle but she was not queen), She was Magical and Evil.

Cruella: NOT queen, NOT magical, arguably NOT evil!

Seriously, let’s think about it. Sure, all she wanted to do was make a coat out of puppies. That is sick. I’d never wear that. I’d never wear any fur but I am not living Cruella’s life. She is a wealthy business woman fashionista that lives in a world where it is ok to point at something and say “make me clothes out of that”. She is also the owner/boss of her own company. She has to be strong and in control to run her own business successfully. We watch the movies and paint her as a Queen B but that is only because the movies are from the point of view of adorable puppies, and of course they find her scary.

I love the idea of having Cruella on the show but I do not see her at all as a “Queen of Darkness”. She just doesn't fit that name.

Now here are some other alternatives that may not necessarily meet the Queen, Magical, Evil standards but they do come a bit closer than Cruella, and I'd love to see them on OUAT too  :)

Lady Tremaine (Cinderella’s Step Mom): She is also not magically inclined but she was really evil. Also, she may not be queen but she did have a royal title.

Mother Gothel: Not a queen and technically the magic was Repunzel’s but she was evil.

Magica De Spell: Ok, so I know what you’re thinking. “Hey Jessie, She’s a duck” I know she’s a duck but she’s a bad ass duck. She is magical and evil and she lives on the side of a volcano! What more do you want out of a villain???

Madam Mim: Not royal but she’s got evil and magic to spare.

And now for my absolute favorite-they need to put her in this show now- pick…

Ysma: All of your arguments are invalid! All of them!

Now, enough of my nit picking. I’m still very excited for the Queens of Darkness and I’m still going to watch this show like it is the oxygen I need to breath :)

Hello Dearies! My favorites little yellow dudes are getting their own film. You get to see them throughout all of history before they find Gru… now in the minion mini films, they are supposed to be clones that were created by Gru but still, It looks silly and amazing! I’ll be taking the kids for sure.

Five Fandom Friday: Favorite Funko Pop Figures

Hello Dearies! So I am super new to these adorable cuties. I have a couple of them that I received as gifts but I had no idea how many varieties there were. Now that I’ve done some searching and built an embarrassingly large wish list, I wanna share with you my top 5 favorites. Picking a top 5 was SO hard! I mean they have all of the best characters. It would be easier to give you a top 50 but I tried :)

1. Groot: He is my new love. I want him to be in every part of my life. My husband already knows that the only acceptable V-day gift this year is something with Groot on it :)

2. Toothless: I love him so hard! I didn't think he could be any cuter until I saw this little guy.

3. Stitch: He is one of my all-time favorite characters.

4. Klingon: Best Star Trek Alien!

5. Super Grover: He has been my all-time favorite Sesame Street character ever since I was a teeny weeny and now that I know he exists, I must have him!
